That turquoise, green and gold “mini square” dress is to die for, imho! This 36-page booklet contains about 11 or so assorted crochet and knitting patterns. There’s no copyright date anywhere in the book; I have dated it to most likely from about 1963 to 1968. The patterns use vintage “knitting worsted” and “Aunt Lydia’s Rug Yarn”; modern worsted weight (medium 4) and rug yarn/bulky yarn should be a good equivalency. Overall, these patterns read in such a way you should have no problems understanding them in a modern context. Although this book is purportedly a learn-how/beginner’s crochet book and the patterns are overall easy, I do think some of these patterns might be challenging for a beginner.

4 Medium - US Worsted - UK Worsted or Aran - AU/NZ 10-ply - Japan Medium/Heavy - Needle/Hook 4.00mm-5.5mm
WPI: 8 to 9 - Knit gauge: 18 to 20 stitches per 4"/10cm
Note yarns labeled as "Aran" tend to be just a bit thicker than yarns labeled "Worsted," but yarns labeled "Worsted Aran" or "Aran Worsted" tend to be the same thickness as "Worsted."
5 Bulky - US Bulky or Chunky - UK Chunky - AU/NZ 12-ply - Japan Chunky - Needle/Hook 5.00-6.50mm
WPI: 7 - Knit gauge: 14-15 stitches per 4"/10cm
For some vintage patterns, this is a reasonable equivalent to "rug yarn."
